About Del Brown
Del Brown is a London-based freelance live TV Director and Vision Mixer with more than 25 years of experience in multi-camera broadcast production. He directs and vision mixes live television across sport, entertainment, music, shopping and events — working from gallery positions in studios and outside broadcast trucks throughout the UK and internationally.
Career
Del has directed and vision mixed live broadcast productions for Formula 1, Formula E, Disney, ITV, Paramount, Reuters, YouTube, QVC, MTV, Red Bull, Eurosport, British Superbikes, Premier League and a wide range of production companies, event agencies and digital platforms. His work spans thousands of hours of live television across sport, entertainment, music, awards, shopping and digital streaming genres.
He is a BAFTA Craft Awards judge, and a member of The Vision Mixers Guild and The Royal Television Society.
Working across studio and outside broadcast environments, Del combines technical precision with calm gallery leadership — cutting live to air across multiple cameras, managing crews under pressure, and delivering consistently strong results across all genres and scales of production.
Funny Hands Media
Del is the Founder and Creative Director of Funny Hands Media, a London-based production company through which he operates as a freelance TV Director and Vision Mixer, and delivers training to broadcast professionals and industry teams.
Training
Del has been delivering live television training since 2007. He founded and delivers the Live TV Directing Short Course, a two-day intensive held at Canary Wharf, London, with a maximum of four delegates per course. Graduates include professionals from Sky, MTV, BT Sport, Bloomberg, SIS, Timeline and Red Bull.
He also provides bespoke one-to-one director training and broadcast consultancy — tailored sessions for broadcasters, production companies, corporate broadcast teams and media organisations. He has lectured in live television production at the University for the Creative Arts (at Maidstone Studios), Ravensbourne University London, the University of Bedfordshire and Canterbury Christ Church University.
